Mobile Labs

Mobility is one of the present trends in all fields of communication, especially for example in Internet 2.0 applications.

In principle the experiment and the experimenter of an online lab can be mobile. But a mobile virtual lab makes no sense. Therefore we have mobile remote labs and mobile experimenters.

The mobile experimenter can use virtual and remote lab resources via PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) or mobile phones.

Figure 11 shows a PDA Web browser running a Flash application stored in a micro Web server that controls a function generator.

Mobile labs require especially wireless sensors. Figure 12 shows, for example of a mobile wheel pressure measurement unit and the corresponding LabVIEW front panel.

In conjunction with this especially the new WiTAG (WiFi Sensor TAG) technology will be interesting in the future [21]. A WiTAG is an autonomous (battery energized) sensor connected to its host via a wireless data interface.
