The resistors that are connected to the same electrical points is known as parallel connection.

 

The result of combining of these resistors is less than each resistor individually.

If the resistors are connected in a way as to combine series and parallel, then R_t will be calculated using a combination of both expressions. Is it similar to how (3+4) 5 is operated? Well, first the 3+4 and then that result is multiplied by 5.
