Tasks

IDevice Icon Note

Tasks 1 - 3 are mandatory for teachers and students to solve it.

Starting with Task 4 all the others are dedicated to teachers and have the role to guide them to find alternative examples so they can use in working with students.

iDevice icon Activity for teachers and students

Task 1: Simulate the jump with angle α = 30°, 45°, 60° and different initial velocities v0 = 5 ms-1 and 6 ms-1 . Compare the calculated and simulated maximal width xmax and heigth ymax.

Task 2: Show, that for a jump with an initial height of 1 m 42° is the optimal jump angle (Hint: Use v0 = 8 ms-1, compare different angle like 40°, 42° or 44° and calculate x for a given y = -1.

Task 3: Calculate and simulate R and h with an angle 19.4°

Task 4: Compare your simulations with practical exercises, jump first with a maximal horizontal velocity, then trying to increase the vertical velocity (reduce the horizontal velocity just before you jump) and compare the reached jump width. Repeat these exercises, pushing your arms down in the last phase of your jump

Task 5: What do you think is smarter: Being fast or jumping very high ....test it!!!!

Task 6: Imagine you have a bike and a ramp! Would there be the same conditions, or are those experiments not comparable??

Task 7: Do you know, how fast you can run?? Do you know, how high you can jump? How far would you jump???
