Multitabs format

Multi tab course format is another way of presenting curriculum material to student. This format has more functions than Social format. Teacher can create as many tabs as he wants. Various information can be displayed in different tabs. In our practice most common information would be: Introduction, reading materials, audio/video materials, assignments, forums for communication and/or assignments, and students assessment.

Introduction tab is used to present following information:

  • Course introduction,
  • curriculum description,
  • teacher introduction,
  • timetable,
  • etc.


Reading tab is used to provide all reading material needed for course students (Fig. 4).
Material can be presented in the following formats:

  • Page (HTML)
  • Book
  • External link
  • PDF document
  • Flash PPT slides
  • and many other variety of forms from Moodle plugins and outer sources...

Media tab is used for various audio and video materials. Students can listen/watch these materials directly in Moodle environment (Fig. 5).
Media material can be presented by:

  • External URL to Media source
  • Embedded video/audio directly in Moodle Page from YouTube.com, Vimeo.com, etc.

Assignment tab is used for various assignments for students.
Assignment can be presented as:

  • Standard Moodle assignments for uploading document till exact date.
  • Tests for self-control.
  • Various Hotpot tests for self-control and for evaluation.
  • etc.


Communication tab is mostly used for discussions. Students can directly ask teacher a question, they can discuss about course curriculum, also post their assignments, etc. Facebook and other social networks can be embedded in this tab (Fig. 6).

Assessment tab is used for students evaluation. Teacher can post results here as Text page, direct link to MS word/excel, PDF or any other file.
